The Throttler — 1997 BDO World Champion and one of Scotland's most successful darts players, whose victory over Marshall James in the final demonstrated his clinical finishing ability.

Les Wallace won the BDO World Championship in 1997 and was one of the most consistent Scottish players on the circuit during the 1990s. His nickname "The Throttler" reflected his playing style — once in front, he applied relentless pressure to his opponents. He was a respected figure on the BDO circuit and represented Scotland internationally for many years.

His 1997 World Championship victory made him the fourth consecutive different national champion — after England, Wales and Netherlands — at the BDO World Championships.
