One of the most creative and underrated England players of his era — his intricate link play and dribbling were central to Liverpool's late 1980s dominance.
Peter Beardsley was widely regarded as one of the most skilful players of his generation. His understanding with John Barnes and Ian Rush at Liverpool produced some of the most fluid attacking football of the era. He won two league titles at Liverpool and was a key figure for England at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups. He won 59 England caps despite facing intense competition for places.
Despite his extraordinary talent, he never scored a goal at a World Cup — though he created numerous others.
