Richie Burnett won the BDO World Championship in 1995, defeating Raymond van Barneveld in the final. His victory — achieved while battling personal difficulties — was one of the most warmly received in BDO history. He was known for his smooth, fluid throwing action and was a consistent performer on the BDO circuit throughout the 1990s. He later switched to the PDC and continued competing at a high level.
