Stan the Man — three NL MVP awards, seven batting titles and 22 seasons of extraordinary consistency made Musial the most beloved player in St Louis Cardinals history.

Stan Musial spent 22 seasons entirely with the St Louis Cardinals, earning three NL MVP awards and seven batting titles. He hit .331 for his career, drove in 1,951 runs and was selected for 24 All-Star games. His consistency was extraordinary — he finished with almost exactly the same number of career hits at home (1,815) and away (1,815) — a balance unique in baseball history. He was nicknamed "The Man" by opposing fans at Brooklyn who coined it admiringly despite being beaten by him.

He had exactly 1,815 hits at home and 1,815 hits on the road across his career — a symmetry so perfect that statisticians initially thought it was an error.
